2008 NFL Mock Draft
by Fred Tomasello - Apr 25, 2008 12:07 PM EST. Email him...
48. Atlanta Falcons - Henderson, Erin, OLB Maryland
E.J. Henderson (Vikings) brother. Complete linebacker versus run and pass. Keith Brooking is 31 and they have no other top talent at linebacker. The Falcons need help everywhere and he is the best value left. 6-23/4 244 4.73
49. Philadelphia Eagles - Adibi, Xavier, OLB Virginia Tech
Where some players have moved up and down in their draft status, Adibi has stayed at pick 40-50 consistently. He is a solid player, not too flashy. Will replace Takeo Spikes for the Eagles. 6-13/4 232 4.69
50. Arizona Cardinals - Flowers, Brandon, CB Virginia Tech
Mike Mayock from NFL network had Flowers as a top ten pick at one point. He is a tackling machine. What drops him this low is he has only ran the 40 in the 4.5's. That scares people at CB, but he was a dominant player for VA Tech on the field and will provide the Cardinals with more depth as Antrel Rolle has been moved to safety. 5-93/4 189 4.58
51. Washington Redskins - Rachal, Chilo, OG USC
Dominant run blocker at USC. Best guard left at this point. Redskins offense slipped in both run and pass. Rachal could start right away at guard. Pete Kendell is entering his 13th season. 6-5 315 5.12
52. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Morgan, Dajuan, S North Carolina State
Morgan has the ability to play as a cover 2 safety and Monte Kiffin knows how to bring along safeties , real nice pick at this point. Doesn't have super speed, but he will hit you and support the run. Could join former Patriot Eugene Wilson as a starting safety. 6-01/8 205 4.54
53. Pittsburgh Steelers - Porter, Tracy, CB Indiana
Porter wasn't a household name at Indiana, but has premium speed, he'll slide down this because he doesn't have optimum size. DeShea Townsend will be 33 once next season starts. The Steelers are never shy about drafting CB's. 5-107/8 188 4.37
54. Tennessee Titans - Avril, Cliff, DE Purdue
Avril played De in college, but at 245 lbs he projects be a pass rushing OLB at he pro level. Would have been higher if he played Lb in college. Titans will develop him into a good player , but they will have to be patient. Look for him to apprentice with Jevon Kearse. 6-27/8 253 4.51
55. Seattle Seahawks - Carlson, John, TE Notre Dame
Carlson had a terrible combine ( It came out later he was sick), but he made up for it by looking very good on his pro day. The Seahawks starting TE , Marcus Pollard, is approaching 70 years old, they will pick a TE early. 6-47/8 255 4.72
56. Green Bay Packers - Moore, Dre, DT Maryland
The Packers traded Corey Williams to Cleveland opening up a hold up the middle of their D. Maryland produces defensive studs and Moore would fit in well with the pack. Moore ran the best of any DT. 6-4 305 4.86
57. Miami Dolphins - Davis, Fred, TE USC
I really think he'll fall this far. Not great at either the combine or USC's pro day. Plays shorter than he is and is not as fluid as you'd think he be for a converted wideout. Miami has nobody at TE and he would get some chance for playing time in Miami. 6-25/8 250 4.68
58. Jacksonville Jaguars - Okam, Frank, DT Texas
Okam is a run stuffing beast in the middle. The Jags traded Stroud to the Bills leaving a DT opening. He won't add much to the pass rush, but at 325 lbs., he will clog the middle. 6-41/2 347 5.29
59. Indianapolis Colts - Bell, Beau, OLB UNLV
The Colts have enough weapons on offense that their last few drafts have been "d" oriented. No exception here. The Colts linebacking corps is filled with late round draft choices and free agents. A definite upgrade is needed. Bell is versatile enough to play a couple different LB positions an Bill Polian likes those kind of guys. 6-11/4 244 4.75
60. Green Bay Packers - Charles, Jamaal, RB Texas
Ryan Grant was great last year but was it a fluke. Brandon Jackson was picked the fist day last year as well, yet wasn't spectacular. The Pack will add depth and take a shot that Charles isn't the next Cedric Benson. Maybe he'll be the next Ricky Williams (minus the spleef). 5-11 200 4.38
61. Dallas Cowboys - Smith, Reggie, CB Oklahoma
Most have have Smith at late first/early second. I think he'll drop because of injury and top end speed concerns. The Cowboys do have a CB need and they like Oklahoma players. Ran a 4.61 on his pro day 4/9/08, now some teams are thinking he may have to move to free safety. 6-01/2 199 4.61
62. New England Patriots - Griffin, Marcus, S Texas
Texas has produce excellent DB's lately. Griffin is an aggressive player and the Patriots lost Eugene Wilson in free agency( along with 2 cb's) so a secondary pick makes sense here. 5-101/4 201 4.75
63. New York Giants - Johnson, Tyrell, S Arkansas State
Johnson is 6'0" 207 lbs and ran a 4.4. Small school competition, but you can't ignore the measureables. Giants lost Gibril Wilson to Oakland, Johnson would look be a great fit in NY. 5-117/8 207 4.45
