2008 NFL Mock Draft
by Fred Tomasello - Apr 25, 2008 12:07 PM EST. Email him...
128. St. Louis Rams - Hall, Vince, ILB Virginia Tech
Hall was a 4 year starter at Va. Tech and was very productive. The only thing he lack is ideal height. Some ILB's under 6 foot have had success in the NFL. 5-11 232 5.08
129. Atlanta Falcons - Hayes, Geno, OLB Florida State
Undersized Lb with great speed and quickness. Character issues drop him this far. He was one the FSU players involved in their cheating scandal and was arrested while in college. 6-07/8 226 4.64
130. Denver Broncos - Leman, Jeremy, ILB Illinois
Tackling machine that had 284 tackles over the last two years. Lmited athletic ability. Coming off ankle surgery. 6-13/4 245 4.90
131. Kansas City Chiefs - Dotson, Lionel, DE Arizona
Tough defensive end adds depth for the Chiefs, since Jared Allen Trade.
132. Carolina Panthers - Choice, Tashard, RB Georgia Tech
Projects as a good backup to DeAngelo Williams. Only ran a 4.5 in the combine but posted consecutive 1500 yard seasons for the yellow jackets. 5-101/2 215 4.52
133. San Francisco 49ers - Booty, John David, QB USC
49ers need a backup quarterback. Booty may not ever be starting material but adds depth. His main strength is that he throws very well on the run. It almost looks as though he'd be an excellent CFL QB. 6-23/8 218 4.82
134. Chicago Bears - Richardson, Barry, OT Clemson
Bears have a definite need at tackle. Richardson is an excellent pas blocker. Only downside is he has a "gentle giant" personality. Someone needs to make him play nasty. 6-65/8 320 5.42
135. Buffalo Bills - Burton, Keenan, WR Kentucky
Bills need numbers at receiver. Burton has good size and ran a 4.46 40, most impressively had a vertical leap of 43.5 inches. He has had durability issues but has produced when on the field. 6-01/2 201 4.46
136. Detroit Lions - Williams, Jack, CB Kent State
Undersized at 5'9" 178 lbs. Lions pick him here because he runs the 40 in the 4.3's. Faced mid-level competition. 5-9 178 4.35
137. Cincinnati Bengals - Shirley, Jason, DT Fresno State
Has talent to be a high pick, but has had multiple DWI issues which to him being suspended from his team. 329 pound run stuffer. 6-51/4 329 5.02
138. New Orleans Saints - Woodyard, Wesley, S Kentucky
Woodyard put up a ton of tackles at LB at Kentucky. But some teams view him as a safety due to his lack of size. I think you try him at LB first and see if he makes it. Guys who try to convert to safety often end up being failed projects. 6-03/8 227 4.51
139. Jacksonville Jaguars - Morgan, Josh, WR Virginia Tech
6'0 219 stocky receiver with average speed. Never put up huge numbers receiving, primarily used as a blocker. Has some off field baggage. 6-01/4 219 4.46
140. Denver Broncos - Dunlap, King, OT Auburn
Broncos need tackle depth. Dunlap is 6'8" 310. Projects as a backup. It's good to be the king. 6-81/2 310 5.33
141. Arizona Cardinals - Bowman, Adarious, WR Oklahoma State
Bowman has dropped like a rock in draft status. Ran 4.7 forty time at the combine. Arrested more marijuana possession after throwing a bag of pot out the window during a traffic chase in march. Someone will take a chance on him because he has outstanding size. 6-27/8 223 4.67
142. Minnesota Vikings - Blake, Tommy, DE TCU
Blake is a speed pass rusher who needs to develop the other aspects of his game. Took a medical leave in college to sort out his head. Boom or bust guy! 6-23/4 272 4.80
143. Houston Texans - Steltz, Craig, S LSU
Steltz is a tough guy who wants to pursue a UFC career if football doesn't work out. He lacks speed only running in the 4.6's. Pat Tillman type of player. could be a special teams wedge buster. 6-13/8 213 4.60
144. Philadelphia Eagles - Wolfe, D.J, S Oklahoma
Wolfe played RB,CB before playing safety his senior year. Project/special teams player with a lack of top end speed. 5-111/8 207 4.61
145. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Brennan, Colt, QB Hawaii
Brennan had huge stats that were inflated by Hawaii's run and shoot offense. I don't think he is much of a prospect. Lack of arm strength is a serious issue. Character concerns as well. You may see him wind up in the arena league. Update: Underwent hip surgery for a torn labrum on April 9th and will be out for three months. he suffered the injury at the senior bowl. 6-23/8 207 4.85
146. Washington Redskins - Smith, Bryan, OLB McNeese State
25 year old rookie. Put up huge number versus small school competition at DE. 231 lbs. projects him to LB in the NFL. Developmental player who could be very good or completely flop. 6-23/8 231 4.75
147. Cleveland Browns - Wilhite, Jonathan, CB Auburn
Not very big but runs a sub 4.4 forty. Was always considered the second starting CB at Auburn. 5-91/2 185 4.38
148. Pittsburgh Steelers - Schwartz, Geoff, OT Oregon
Schwartz is effective blocker vs. both run and pass. Drops due to back surgery after 2006 season, but he play full season in 2007. 6-61/4 332 5.30
149. Tennessee Titans - Lowery, Dwight, CB San Jose State
Lowery was original rated higher until he ran 4.59 in the forty. He has very good size at 201 lbs. 2 year starter after JUCO career. They want to look at him at safety. 5-111/8 201 4.59
150. Jacksonville Jaguars - Scott, Trevor, DE Buffalo
Small school project who was team leader at the MAC level. Dominated against small competition. Played Tight End until his senior year. 6-5 256 4.54
151. Jacksonville Jaguars - Johnston, Brian, DE Gardner-Webb
Put up huge numbers as a four year starter against low level competition. 6-51/8 274 4.66
152. San Diego Chargers - Wicks, Eric, S West Virginia
Wicks 6' 210 lbs. great safety size, not the fastest guy. 3 year starter at West Virginia, solid special teams guy. 5-113/4 210 4.69
153. Indianapolis Colts - Dykes, Keilen, DT West Virginia
Dykes started all four years and put up similar numbers. Never really took his game up a level. He projects as a backup/rotational defensive tackle and might be able to play end on a 3-4 team. 6-33/8 306 5.08
154. Green Bay Packers - Castille, Simeon, CB Alabama
Castile played corner @ Alabama but will have to move inside due to lack of speed (4.7 40). 6-03/8 195 4.70
155. Dallas Cowboys - Silva, Jamie, S Boston College
Silva has acceptable safety size and had 125 tackles and 8 interceptions his senior year. Huge leader at BC. 4.8 speed leads me to believe his NFL future is more as a special teamer than anything else. 5-103/4 204 4.82
156. New England Patriots - Dizon, Jordon, OLB Colorado
Dizon had 297 tackles the last two years for a weak Colorado team. He is undersized, projects as a special teamer. 5-117/8 229 4.75
157. New York Giants - Fontenot, Wilrey, CB Arizona
Fontenot at 171 lbs does not have ideal size, but gets selected on his 4.42 speed. Could be a dime back for the Giants. He played oppsite Antoine Cason at Arizona and teams picked on him a lot. 5-83/4 171 4.41
158. Dallas Cowboys - Luellen, Tyler, OT Missouri
Luellen provides Cowboys with depth at the tackle position. Big guy with average feet.
159. St. Louis Rams - Mattison, Bryan, DE Iowa
Mattison has prototypical size and ran the 40 under 5 seconds. Team captain @ Iowa. Father coaches linebackers for Ravens. Dependable backup at this point. 6-27/8 290 4.99
