2008 NFL Mock Draft
by Jim Wedl - Dec 27, 2007 10:17 PM EST. Email him...
1. Miami Dolphins - Dorsey, Glenn, DT LSU
Dolphins do a lot of things really bad, and stopping the run is one of them. Glenn Dorsey should be able to come in and make an immediate impact.
2. St. Louis Rams - Long, Jake, OT Michigan
The Rams just extended Marc Bulger's contract and they have found their fanchise Rb in Steven Jackson. They need a tackle that can run block and pass protect, Jake Long is a no brainer.
3. Atlanta Falcons - Ryan, Matt, QB Boston College
Overall the Falcons are a train wreck and this includes the Qb position. Before Petrino bolted it looked like Brian Brohm would reunite with his college coach. Many regard Matt Ryan as the best Qb in the 2008 draft class, so he appears to be heading to the ATL.
4. New York Jets - McFadden, Darren, RB Arkansas
Remember how effective Thomas Jones was when he shared the load with Cedric Benson in Chicago? Darren McFadden should help reduce his workload, and he is too good to pass up at #4.
5. Oakland Raiders - Long, Chris, DE Virginia
His father was one of the all time Raider greats and Al Davis will be smiling from ear to ear when Chris Long falls into his lap on draft day.
6. Baltimore Ravens - Woodson, Andre, QB Kentucky
Steve McNair may have played his final down in the NFL and the Ravens aren't sold on Kyle Boller. Andre Woodson has great size and a big arm. He will be hard for any team with questions at Qb to pass up, and the Ravens won't.
7. Kansas City Chiefs - Clady, Ryan, OT Boise State
KC has one of the best Rb's in league in Larry Johnson, but their offensive line is average at best.
8. New England Patriots - Connor, Dan, OLB Penn State
The New England linebackers are getting very long in the tooth and Dan Connor seems to be the perfect fit.
9. Cincinnati Bengals -
Has there been a team with worse luck drafting linebackers than the Bengals? David Pollack suffers a serious neck injury and Odell Thurman likes to drink and drive. Cincinnati is hoping that James Laurinaitis end their linebacker woes.
10. Denver Broncos - Ellis, Sedrick, DT USC
Denver is terrible against the run so Ellis is an easy selection to make.
11. Carolina Panthers - Phillips, Kenny, S Miami
Carolina is weak at the safety position and Kenny Phillips is a strong canidate to take over the starting job from day 1
12. Chicago Bears - Brohm, Brian, QB Louisville
The Rex Grossman era is now over and it is hard to see the organizaion giving the starting job to Kyle Orton
13. Arizona Cardinals - Campbell, Calais, DE Miami
Arizona is a team that is full of hope at the beginning of every season and Calais Campbell will help create a buzz in 2008.
14. New Orleans Saints - Stewart, Jonathan, RB Oregon
Reggie Bush proved that he is not capable of being a workhorse Rb in the NFL. Jonathan Stewart is a smashmouth back that can pound the rock between the tackles. If Stewart can becomes an effective back for the Saints Reggie Bush might be the dynamic player he was intended to be.
15. Houston Texans -
When you face the Colts twice a year, you better be able to stop the pass.
16. Buffalo Bills - Gholston, Vernon, DE Ohio State
Gholston is the explosive player the Bils defensive line is lacking.
Picks 1-16 | 17-32
