17. Minnesota Vikings
- Jackson, DeSean, WR California
California may have been disappointing this season but Jackson sure wasn't! Adding DeSean to any roster instantly boosts its explosiveness, especially one led by Bobby Wade in recieving yardage. Not only is DeSean a pretty good wideout, but he is an excellent returner. |
18. Houston Texans
- Otah, Jeff, OT Pittsburgh
Coming off the best season in franchise history the Texans still have many needs to adress in the draft. One of them is to protect Matt Schaub's blind side at the left tackle position. This class is the best OT class in a long time and the Texans will take advantage. The other possibility here is a CB such as Aquib Talib. |
19. Philadelphia Eagles
- Jackson, Lawrence, DE USC
The Eagles have plenty of needs, a FS to replace Brian Dawkins, a reliable TE, a true #1 WR and even a LT to replace Jon Ruyan a few years from now when he will probably retire. In the end though the Eagles will chose the dynamic DE from USC to give the Eagles one of the best D-lines in the NFL and replace the inaffective Jevon Kearse. We all know Andy Reid loves to draft lineman early in the draft, this year should be no different. |
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Doucet, Early, WR LSU
Joey Galloway is older than my grandparents. He is still productive but how much longer can he do it? Ike Hilliard is 32 and not getting any younger. Doucet should bring some much needed speed and quickness to this aging recieving corpe. |
21. Washington Redskins
- Campbell, Calais, DE Miami
|
| Drafting a saftey is another option, unfortuanly, as we all know what happened to Sean Taylor. The Redskins have the makings of a dynamic offense. The rest of the defense is pretty solid except the ends. The Skins have struggled to put pressure on their opponents all season long and it could come back to haunt them in the playoffs. That shouldn't be a problem next season if they draft Calais Campbell. |
|
22. Seattle Seahawks
- Stewart, Jonathan, RB Oregon
In a word, Shaun Alexander this season has been dreadful. Look for him to be traded or cut this offseason or sometime next year. Stewart was very productive at Oregon and a main reason why the Ducks killed a good South Florida team in their bowl game, despite not having heisman hopeful Dennis Dixon. |
23. Dallas Cowboys
- Jones, Felix, RB Arkansas
Jerry Jones is an Arkansas alum and has a soft spot in his heart for the Razorbacks. With McFadden long gone at this point Jones will reach for McFaddens backfield partner, the ever explosive Felix Jones. Along with McFadden and DeSean Jackson, Jones is the most electricfying player in this draft. I doubt Felix can be an every-down back, but in Dallas he won't need to be. The Cowboys already have Marion Barber at RB. This is about the best spot you can be in, your team has very few needs and 2 first round picks. I look for the 'Boys to play around a bit here and then adress one of their few needs later in the draft. |
24. Pittsburgh Steelers
- Schuening, Roy, OG Oregon State
Alan Fanecea is as good as gone. It is showing in his play too, he hasn't turned in one of his best seasons (though he will be going to the pro bowl again). With that said the Steelers need to draft an O-lineman, whether it be a guard or tackle. The Steelers, along with the Patriots, Colts, Cowboys and Chargers are the most talented teams in the NFL. With stronger protection for Big Ben (whom I think is the 3rd best QB in the NFL) and a better run game the Steelers should be able to compete for the AFC championship for several years to come. |
25. Tennessee Titans
- Sweed, Limas, WR Texas
Vince Young has struggled all season long. Part of his stuggles are the complete lack of weapons around him. The Titans did make the playoffs; though just barely, but I wouldn't expect to make it again next year unless they upgrade their recieving corpe. One bonus with Sweed is he is very big (6-5, 219) which will help Vince immensely, because he often struggles with his accuracy. |
26. New York Giants
- Talib, Aqib, CB Kansas
The Giants have been pretty good this season, but one their weaknesses has been the secondary. Talib is a very physical corner and one of the main reasons Kansas is playing in its first ever BCS Bowl this season. The Giants could also go with OLB Keith Rivers here or even a WR (Buress is great but injury-prone) such as Oklahoma State's Adarius Bowmann or Michigans Mario Manningham. |
27. San Diego Chargers
- Okam, Frank, DT Texas
The Chargers rebounded from their dreadful start to become the AFC #3 seed. Still though their run defense was porous all year, giving up the NFL record 297 rush yards to rookie Adrien Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings. Some of this can be attributed to DT Louis Castillo's injury but there is still no denying that the Chargers could upgrade their run defense. |
28. Jacksonville Jaguars
- Hardy, James, WR Indiana
The Jaguars are not extremly talented, but instead very fundamentally sound, well coached, and very very tough. Adding James Hardy fits the Jaguars mold. He is a tall (6-6) and has good hands. Hardy tore up some talented Big Ten D's this year, such as Penn States. David Garrard is a good QB who will benefeit from a large target like Hardy. |
29. Green Bay Packers
- Cason, Antoine, CB Arizona
Though not the best prospect, Antoine Cason was the most productive college CB of any availible in this draft. Cason does not have ideal speed on the corner but he has a nose for the ball, and plays very smart. The Packers are the NFL's youngest team with an average age of 24. Cason will play like a 6 year verteran his rookie year, helping add some experience "artificially" if you will to the Pack. This Green Bay team should be good for a long time assuming Aaron Rodgers can play compently when he eventually takes over for Favre. |
30. Dallas Cowboys
-
Leodis,McKelvin, CB Troy
McKelvin is a potential sleeper coming from a smaller school in Troy. He may be the most athletic corner in the draft along with Mike Jenkins. The Cowboys do need to upgrade the entire secondary, especially at corner however they can afford to take risks as they are leaps and bounds over other NFC teams in ways of talent. That is what Leodis is, a risk with an enormous upside. |
31. San Francisco 49ers
- Bowman, Adarious, WR Oklahoma State
Bowman is a very talented WR who should help the 49ers underachieving wideouts. Darrell Jackson and Ashley Leilie have been busts and Jason Hill, a third round pick last year has not been very effective. The Niners could also go for Boston Colleges OT Gosder Cherilus or a CB like Oklahoma's Reggie Smith, Indiana's Tracy Porter or Penn State's Justin King. |
