1. Detroit Lions
- Stafford, Matthew, QB Georgia
The lions are not necessarily desperate for a quarterback, just for a great player who can rise up and help out the team. And with the number one pick, they have the perfect chance to fix this problem by grabbing Stafford. |
2. St. Louis Rams
- Curry, Aaron, OLB Wake Forest
The Rams had a bad season in 2008, and to improve, they need a playmaker. With basic offensive positions covered, Aaron Curry is the perfect guy for the job. |
3. Kansas City Chiefs
- Smith, Jason, OT Baylor
They are slowly losing all of their star offensive players, like Larry Johnson. So a reliable offensive lineman with a good attitude and a great initial boost could help out in numerous ways. |
4. Seattle Seahawks
- Raji, BJ, DT Boston College
While the Hawks may still need some help in their receiving core, with Houshmandzadeh, it is not their first priority. But they could use some powerful defensive players, and Raji is the best defensive lineman in the draft class.
|
5. Cleveland Browns
- Jenkins, Malcolm, CB Ohio State
|
| While the Browns' offense may be lacking at some major positions, they need to make the defense their first priority in the draft if they want to get anywhere in 2009. And they can count on Jenkins to bring them the high interception count that they need. |
|
6. Cincinnati Bengals
- Smith, Andre, OT Alabama
The Bengals need some way to get an edge on their opponents. It used to be their passing game. But with the current condition of Carson Palmer, they need a new advantage. And a great way is to have a powerful pass blocker who can consistantly stop the defensive line. |
7. Oakland Raiders
- Monroe, Eugene, OT Virginia
In the passed years, the Raiders have selected highly anticipated players. And they have turned out to be not as effective as they had hoped. They are still waiting for a big impact player, and a strong offensive line could help develop and protect both Russell and McFadden. |
8. Jacksonville Jaguars
- Crabtree, Michael, WR Texas Tech
David Garrard is a quarterback that could make a real difference for the Jaguars if he had the right options to throw to. And this is just a minor routine surgery that Crabtree is going through, so he would be a great pick for the struggling Jaguars. |
9. Green Bay Packers
- Orakpo, Brian, DE Texas
With the Packers switching to a 3-4 defense, they could use an effective pass rusher. And although B.J. Raji would be the ideal draft pick for them, they most likely will not have the opportunity to take him. So they should settle for a powerful defensive end, such as the powerhouse Brian Orakpo. |
10. San Francisco 49ers
- Brown, Everette, DE Florida State
The 49ers seemed to improve when they hired Mike Singletary as head coach. But without any powerful players that they can rely on to get the plays that will win them games, they can't hope to make an impact in 2009. |
11. Buffalo Bills
- Wells, Chris, RB Ohio State
Marshawn Lynch and the Bills' offense were not fantastic in 2008, but the defense is primarily what was at fault. And it seems that any good team in the AFC East is made up of hard workers. And that is exactly what Rey Maualuga will be in 2009 for the Bills. |
12. Denver Broncos
- Sanchez, Mark, QB USC
In the 2008 season, the Broncos' passing game obviously dominated. And to balance that out, they have been trying to sign recent backups J. J. Arrington, Correll Buckhalter, and LaMont Jordan. But they need a hardcore back who understands how to play the game for their number one back. |
13. Washington Redskins
- Maualuga, Rey, ILB USC
With Clinton Portis, Santana Moss, and the possible addition of wide receiver Anquan Boldin, It's easy to see that the Redskins have some reliable offensive talent. But Jason Campbell does not get the job done. They need a reliable quarterback like Sanchez to score big. |
14. New Orleans Saints
- Davis, Vontae, CB Illinois
Drew Brees had an amazing season in 2008, so who is to blame for the Saints being last in the NFC South? The running game and the secondary. And Reggie Bush can get better as he extends his career. So to improve the team, they could use a good corner. |
15. Houston Texans
- Oher, Michael, OT Ole Miss
There are two main reasons that the Texans didn't make the playoffs. #1, they are in one of the toughest divisions in the league. #2, while having great young talent such as Steve Slaton and Andre Johnson, they can't seem hold back the defense. |
16. San Diego Chargers
- Jackson, Tyson, DE LSU
Anyone who is making the huge plays for the Chargers, is getting pretty old, or has at least spent 4 or 5 years in the NFL. They really need to get some fresh talent, especially on defense. |
